December Daily - it's a paper year!

Hi Folks,

Have you started to see December Daily posts pop up here and there... are you as excited as me...lol!  This will be the third year of December Daily for me and I am just too excited to get going.  I decided this year I was going to do a paper version of December Daily and to make life just that little bit easier Ali Edwards has teamed up with Studio Calico.  They have put together an absolutely awesome December Daily kit available for pre-order now!...

2010 was the first year I started hearing about December Daily and figured I would give it a go in a paper format (didn't finish that) and at the same time I did a digital version... loved that!

2011 December Daily was a digital format that I had printed into a bound book... I just can't tell you how much I love that!

But hang on a minute didn't I say I started a paper version back in 2010...yes I did and rediscovered the semi-completed album while looking through a box of Christmas papers to use for my Christmas cards this year.  I didn't quite have the hang of documenting every day back then so I missed a few days and unfortunately the digital version is not the right size for printing...but it won't take me long to finish off the paper version.  All I need to finish the album is 4 pages so I spent a day on the weekend printing foundation pages and photos, ready for me to complete in the next couple of days.

I was so rapt to find the paper version I started that's why 2012 December Daily will be the year of paper...YIPPEE!!!

Have a great day!

Project Life - we're back!

Hi Folks,

Well I'm doing it, catching up slowly... but still catching up that's the main thing, right *wink*.  So without further ado here are weeks 13 and 14...

The extra little embellies are from Aimeeh's - Inspire Me Blog Train contribution

I broke the mold and went with a sketch template from AKdesigns - Inspire Me Blog Train contribution and the kit used was by Digi Junkie - Sunny Days.  I love all the patterned papers but I don't think they over whelm the photos...

What do you think - too much or just right?

Have a great day!

Card Me Thursday - Recycling!

Hi Folks,

I'm going a bit green this year and re-using last years Christmas cards!  Not for cards but as tags for presents, although I probably could use them for cards...lol  I remembered seeing a post last year on re-using your Christmas cards by cutting them up...

and turning them into tags for presents...

I used my Big Shot and a couple of dies, oh and there were a couple tags cut free hand too :)  So simple and a great way to re-purpose last years cards!

Have a great day!

Back on the Wagon!

The Project Life Digital wagon that is...

...well because you see I kinda of fell off, fell behind, just plain ole didn't do it each week :(  I managed to scrap up to week 12 but by then I was sooooo far behind, I just stopped making pages.  I was and still am taking heaps of photos each and every week though, these are placed it in a file called 'un_sorted' in folders named with dates and the week number and this is where they sit.

I just knew this would happen! I know myself too well! I really didn't think for one minute I would keep up and I'm doing a digital version so it should be quicker right.  I am always so well intentioned, but with Project Life you have to be a little bit more committed than being well intentioned.
And... here it is for all those like me that really want to do Project Life, but like me have just plain ole stopped... it's not too late to do a catch up!

Yes, you heard me! IT'S NOT TOO LATE!!! And this is how I am catching up...  I decided I would just do this, no if'ing or but'ing.  I set up another file system called 'my pages' and inside that I created folders named with the week to scrap.  I then went through the 'un_sorted' folders and and picked out photos that spoke to me or I could recall a memory of what happened that week and copied them into the 'my pages' week folder that corresponded.  Phew that was the easy part!

Next I opened a template I wanted to work with, most of my pages are created with template A.  I then went one by one through each of the 'my pages' folders and dropped the photos onto the place holders and saved the template into the folder the photos came from.  I made sure I left blank place holders for journaling and titles on each page to come back too.

So as you can see above... no, my pages don't look too pretty at this stage but they are now set up ready to go.  So far it has taken me about a day to get this far.

Journaling and putting pretty things on a page is what takes me the longest when I scrap.   I have been writing in a daily journal so at least I have notes to refer too for the journaling.  As to making the pages pretty... well I like to design digital elements myself so this will still be the longest part of scrapping a page but I really feel Project Life 2012 is now achievable and that I will actually complete it for the year :)

I hope this post gives some of you the incentive you need to catch up or just to Keep Calm and Carry On... with Project Life!!!

Have a great day!

Click Your Heels Together!

Hi Folks...

I'm off to see my girl again tomorrow and I can't go without taking something I have made for her.  Just a little something to remind her of home and that she is loved very much, not that she needs it :)

I was looking through my silhouette files and saw one for a Stiletto Shoe.  I remembered purchasing the shape just for my girl as she is a bit shoe mad but didn't really know what to do with it.  It was only after a comment she made on facebook the other day about being homesick that I thought the Stiletto would be perfect for a pair of...  RUBY RED SHOES!

I hope you can see the SERIOUS! bling on these shoes...hehehe!  They were a bit of a challenge to photograph and as hubby pointed out on a different background they would have looked better... but when you are rushed for time in the morning before work - ya get what ya get...lol!

I purchased a piece of red A3 card for the outside of the shoes and cut the shapes with the Silhouette.  These pieces I then ran through my 5" Xyron for maximum sticky before adding Burgundy Glitter Ritz.  The inside of the shoe was a piece of patterned scrap paper from my stash.

Before assembling the outside of the shoe I burnished the glitter, which gave it a really good sparkle and of course made the glitter stick tight to the pieces.  I assembled the shoes following the instructions using just craft glue.  In a few places like the really curvy curves I had to hold the pieces together for a bit.  I was expecting the glitter to come off quite a lot but it didn't, so mess was minimal...YAY!

All that's needed is a little sign...CLICK YOUR HEELS TOGETHER THREE TIMES and repeat to yourself... THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!

Have a great day!

Divide and Conquer or Just Sorted!

Hi Folks...

I've been doing a bit more sorting and storing in my craftroom... this seems to be never ending or maybe it's my new hobby, hahahaha!

I saw a post on the Silhouette blog for using a file folder pocket shape for organizing unused cut shapes.  Just what I needed as I had lots of clear plastic bags with various bits floating around inside!

I modified the shape so instead of a pocket I had a tab at the bottom and tabs on the sides. This was so I could glue the tabs to the box making them fixed.  To keep things neat... the tabs at the top are labeled in the same order I have filed my shapes in the Silhouette program.  The papers are from the Glitz range and the box was one I picked up in a $2 shop.

A quick project that looks kinda cute don't ya think?  As well as being practical...lol!

Have a great day!
